Right now, whether you're on a mountain top experience, on your way down into the valley, or you feel like you're stuck in the valley and not sure how to get up..today I think we can all be reminded just how loved and special we are to God. The verse above tells us that the Creator of ALL calls us a masterpiece.
Psalm 139 is beautiful, and I may have posted this video before but please do watch it again. We are all so special and loved.
However, along with this knowledge that we are created so intimately, we also must remember that we are called to live for Christ each and every day. In my online class last week, I learned that in Jesus' time, when a disciple said they were following Jesus, that meant something BIG. When a person said they were a follower, that was the same as someone today saying that they are a doctor or a teacher. Think about that..we are called to be a follower of Jesus.
In our culture, when we "follow" someone on social media, we can leisurely look at their post whenever we want to, we may comment on their post, or like it..and then we go on with our day.
NO! We must switch our terminology for when we are talking about being a follower of Christ. What does it mean to you that you follow Christ? ..does it mean something to you to follow Christ?
The disciples left all that they knew..their family and friends and all that was familiar..in order to sit at the feet of Jesus and learn from Him. They talked with Him, they learned from Him, they loved Him.
What does that look like for us today? Even though Jesus is not walking on earth at this time, we still can talk with Him daily, learn from Him daily (listening during a prayer, reading the Bible), and we can love Him..and love others because of Him.
May we love Him and FOLLOW Him with our whole heart, mind, and body.
